Move your website from GoDaddy to HostRob: a step-by-step guide
Step-by-step: back up your GoDaddy site, move files and database to HostRob in Mumbai, switch DNS without downtime and keep your email working.
Short answer
To move from GoDaddy to HostRob: take a full backup of files and database from GoDaddy, create a matching container on HostRob, upload the files and import the database, test on the free yourname.hostrob.com address, then change only the domain's A record to HostRob. Email hosted at GoDaddy keeps working as long as you leave the MX records alone.
Before you start
- Lower the DNS TTL on your domain to 300 seconds a day before the move, so the switch spreads quickly.
- Write down your current DNS records, especially
MX,TXT(SPF, DKIM) and anyCNAMErecords for email. - Do not cancel the GoDaddy plan until the new site has run for a few days.
Move the site
- From GoDaddy cPanel, download a full backup of your files and an export of each database.
- On HostRob, create a container of the right type (WordPress, PHP or Node.js) and a database.
- Upload the files with the ZIP upload (it extracts in place) or SFTP, then import the SQL in phpMyAdmin.
- Update the database name, user and password in the site's config file.
- Test the site on its
yourname.hostrob.comaddress.
Switch the domain without breaking email
At your DNS provider, change only the A record for the domain (and www, if used) to the IP the HostRob panel shows. Leave MX, SPF and DKIM records exactly as they are, and your mailboxes stay where they are. SSL is issued as soon as DNS points to HostRob, usually within minutes.

Questions
Will my site go down during the move?
No, if you test on the hostrob.com address first and only then change the A record. Visitors keep reaching the old host until DNS updates.
Will my GoDaddy email stop working?
No, as long as you do not change the MX, SPF or DKIM records. Only the A record moves.
Can HostRob move the site for me?
Yes. Managed migration is ₹999 one time, and free on Enterprise.
